Gangwe (often spelled Gengwei) is a selective, post-emergence systemic herbicide widely used in maize and sugarcane crops. Its primary function is to eliminate broadleaf weeds, grassy weeds, and sedges without harming the crop itself.
Key Functions & Benefits
- Broad-Spectrum Weed Control: Targets a wide variety of weeds (such as Cynodon, Echinochloa, and broadleaf weeds) that compete with maize for water, sunlight, and nutrients.
- Systemic Action: It is absorbed by the leaves and roots, traveling throughout the weed’s system to destroy it entirely, preventing regrowth.
- Selective Formula: It is designed to be safe for maize plants, killing only the invasive weed flora.
- Timing: The most effective and safe time to spray is when the maize is in the 3 to 5 leaf stage. The weeds should also be young and actively growing (2 to 4 leaf stage).
- Usage: It is usually applied as a post-emergence spray. Farmers often mix it with other recommended herbicides for comprehensive, season-long weed management.
